Hilary Clinton loves being a United Methodist

I just read this article about the Hilary Clinton's religious beliefs. Here is a particularly disappointing segment:
The Methodist church leadership officially supports legalized abortion. Whereas a lot of conservative Methodists have left the church because of that liberal drift. Hillary says, "I am so comfortable in this church." That drift has been perfectly suitable for her.

If the author is as thorough with his fact checking in the rest of the book as he is with this statement, then I seriously doubt the accuracy of his account.

Yeah, you are back on line, Jason! I've checked your site every day since October 25 and wondered where you had gone. Lon said that you were having computer problems. Glad you are still with us!

Some leaders in the UMC may support legalized abortion, but they do not do so "officially."

The official denominational statement allows for abortion only in "tragic situations where continued pregnancy or birth may jeopardize the life or physical health of the mother."

Otherwise, the United Methodist Church has refused to "affirm abortion as an acceptable means of birth control, and we unconditionally reject it as a means of gender selection."

More here.

Let's play tag! (Not that you have to, of course, but games can be fun.)

Let's face it: the public face of United Methodism is liberal and socialistic. Hillary Clinton and Jocelyn Elders (the surgeon general who advocated contraceptive distribution and the teaching of masturbation in public schools) are UMs. And wait until next year when General Conference convenes...I wonder which liberal bishop or pastor will get the lion's share of the press this time?

In my travels, I meet many Methodist folk who are still evangelically-minded, but they are overshadowed by "public-eye UMs" who spout their liberal drivel.
